Hazem Hussein


Hazem Hussein is a Lead Electrical Engineer and MEP Consultant. He is the author of Value Engineering for Electrical Systems in Construction, published by Wiley, which focuses on the practical application of Value Engineering principles to electrical and MEP systems. Hazem has extensive international experience in the design, planning, and delivery of complex electrical and MEP works across a broad spectrum of building and infrastructure projects.

His professional portfolio includes data centres, mission‑critical facilities, healthcare institutions, hospitality developments, high‑rise buildings, commercial and mixed‑use complexes, and sustainable certified projects across Europe, the Middle East, and the Gulf region. Hazem has held senior engineering roles with globally recognised consulting firms, including KEO International Consultants and Haskoning, contributing to the successful delivery of technically demanding and fast‑tracked projects.

Throughout his career, Hazem has specialised in integrating Value Engineering methodologies into electrical systems design and delivery, with particular focus on optimising functional performance, lifecycle cost efficiency, system resilience, regulatory compliance, and sustainable design outcomes. His technical expertise spans low‑ and medium‑voltage power systems, lighting design, emergency power infrastructure, extra‑low voltage (ELV) as well as full MEP coordination.

He brings extensive experience in leading multidisciplinary teams and managing complex design and delivery processes from early concept stages through construction, commissioning, and handover. His professional contributions have been recognised through industry nominations, having been shortlisted twice for Electrical Engineer of the Year by MEP Middle East Magazine and the CBNME Awards. In addition to project delivery, Hazem actively supports professional development through technical training, knowledge‑sharing initiatives, and the development of practical engineering tools and standardisation frameworks.
