Richard Edwin


Richard Edwin is a Chartered Civil Engineer with over 45 years of experience. He has been appointed as a delay expert on more than 60 occasions.

Richard has testified on 12 occasions in international arbitrations (including delivering concurrent evidence) at ICC, UNCITRAL, ICSID, LCIA, DIAC, SIAC, LMAA and DBCAB proceedings, dispute review boards, and dispute adjudication boards.  He has prepared numerous expert reports on disputed infrastructure and building projects with values up to ​​$3.25 billion, in arbitration and UK litigation proceedings​.

Richard’s experience was gained as a main contractor and construction manager for major UK-based construction companies, working on major infrastructure projects.  That experience includes design and engineering, procurement, construction management, design and build contracting, management and general contracting, risk management, value engineering, planning and programming.

His project experience includes heavy civil engineering (including tunnelling), major road, rail, airport and pipeline infrastructure, renewable energy (wind, hydro, and solar), power (including nuclear) and water, oil and gas, industrial and process plants, healthcare, residential, commercial, retail, education, leisure, mechanical and electrical installations, and offshore vessels and installations.

Richard specialises in using critical path analysis to assist in the resolution of construction, process, oil and gas, and offshore disputes and to assist clients by providing dispute avoidance advice.

Richard holds a degree in civil engineering and a graduate diploma in laws. He is a member of the Institution of Civil Engineers, the Society of Construction Law, and an associate member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators.
